Christmas is here

Central Station Decorations
We had a lovely surprise on the evening of 4 December 2012 when we received two Christmas cards from home – one from my Auntie Carol & Uncle Roger and one from my Auntie Gayle & David. It was a little treat from home that made us feel Christmassy and remind us of the people we left behind in the UK. We put the cards in our room and Nicola started making Christmas decorations to make it feel a bit more Christmassy. It really doesn’t feel very Christmassy out here, which is strange because we are now in the first week of December. Sans advent calendars, sans Christmas music in shops and sans cold weather it just doesn’t feel like Christmas. We are also in the process of budgeting our finances and cutting back on luxuries in order to make our money stretch further – so no brand label chocolate for us at the moment (but maybe we’ll treat ourselves for Christmas day) – so our scrooge like measures also detracts from the Christmas feel of this time of year. Unless of course, in true Scrooge fashion we are visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past and we repent and splurge the rest of our money on sweets and treats. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen as we wont be able to afford to travel much further.

No sooner had we opened our Christmas cards, finished our Christmas decorations and hung them up we spotted a garish Christmas light display on one of the houses opposite us. Now it feel’s like Christmas!
