As Nic and I sheltered ourselves from the rain we struck upon an idea to lift our flagging spirits...a trip to the Eureka Sky Tower. As a leaving present when I left work, Leanne (Silvestro), had bought Nicola and I tickets to visit the viewing platform on the 88th floor of the Eureka Sky Tower, what we believe is the largest building in Melbourne. As we huddled beneath a canopy from the Melbourne Centre for Performing Arts, Nicola and I resolved to make the most of what had been a disappointing day so far and headed in the direction of the sky tower.
Conveniently, we were in the Southbank area of Melbourne at the time of the rain shower, which is also where the sky tower is. So the walk only took us a few minutes of darting between the shelter offered by overhanging balconies and restaurant awnings before we made it to the base of the tower and got out our tickets.
The lift up to the 88th floor informed us that we were travelling upwards at 9 metres a second. As we left the lift we made our way to the nearest window (the entire floor was covered in windows so we didn't have to walk far) for a view of Melbourne...and what a lovely view it was.
As if symbolising our improving mood, the sun came out and formed a huge rainbow over Melbourne...
The trip had lifted our spirits and ensured that we ended the day in a more positive mood than we had started it.
A big thank you to Leanne for her wonderful present.
