Before we officially started our three day jungle trek, we made a short detour to a local waterfall. We had a 45 minute taxi ride there, leaving Chiang Mai behind and heading up along sometimes bumpy and sometimes smooth Thai roads that inched higher and higher into the jungle covered mountains.
What awaited us was quite extraordinary...
The best way to describe the whole scene was like being in a Timotei advert, although, the force of the cascading water meant that it was not ideal for sticking your head under and leaning back seductively...Nicola and I inched in slowly and apprehensively whilst braving the stinging spray. We attempted to take pictures of us underneath the waterfall but it was a no go...all mist and no Joel when the photos came out.
The photos below do not do the waterfall justice, but it gives you an idea. For the first time on this trip, we felt like we had seen the real beauty of Thailand that we had imagined, much more than what you get in the seedy streets of Bangkok.
